Statement on Temporary County Supervisor Vacancy

A temporary vacancy currently exists on the Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors pending Mr. Scott Belt’s removal trial. Mr. Belt deserves his day in court. Pottawattamie County will not attempt to fill his position on the Board before the trial has been completed, unless it lasts beyond December 24, 2025, which is 40 days after Mr. Belt’s temporary suspension from office.  Iowa law dictates that a temporary vacancy must be filled by that date.  

Should there be a need to fill a temporary or permanent vacancy on the Board, the process for applying to fill the vacancy will be announced at the appropriate time.
