The Pottawattamie County Veterans Service Office (VSO) received a $5,830 donation from Ameristar Casino Hotel Council Bluffs through its Ticket In, Ticket Out (TITO) charitable giving program.
The program supports local organizations through donated gaming ticket funds, with a different beneficiary selected each quarter. The Pottawattamie County Veterans Service Office was selected as the beneficiary for the third quarter of 2026.
Representatives from Ameristar presented the donation on Wednesday, October 14. Veterans Service Commissioners Dr. Russ Buzalko and Andrew Dewey, along with VSO Outreach Coordinator Rebekah Adair, were among those representing the VSO at the presentation.
The donation will help support the Veterans Service Office's ongoing programs and assistance for local veterans, including meeting individual needs such as funding transportation assistance for medical appointments, essential supplies, and support for veterans experiencing homelessness.
In addition to providing direct assistance, the Veterans Service Office operates a veterans' food pantry serving approximately 8–14 families each month and a mobile service office that visits 13 Pottawattamie County communities throughout the year. The office also hosts an annual Veterans Resource Festival, connecting veterans, service members, and their families with representatives from more than 30 organizations offering resources and services.
The county extends its appreciation to Ameristar Casino Hotel Council Bluffs and those who contributed through the TITO program for their support of local veterans.
