The Pottawattamie County Recorders Office offers a rewards program for county veterans who record their discharge papers/DD-214 with the county. After having a DD-214 recorded, visit the Honor Rewards website to complete a brief form. Once enrolled, the veteran will receive a card that can be presented at local participating businesses to receive a discount. For more information, visit the Pottawattamie County Recorders Office website.
If you are a business owner and would like to sign up to be a part of the Honor Rewards system, visit the Business Member Sign-Up page to register.
Pottawattamie County Veterans Service Office is seeking nominations for people in our community that ‘go the extra’ mile to assist our Veterans. Ballots can be completed in our office or by filling out the form below. Please complete the entire form or we will not be able to honor them.

This site is intended as a place to remember and honor American service members lost in Afghanistan and Iraq.
There is a profile for each service member based on available information. Obituaries received from Legacy.com newspaper affiliates are also included. Information is updated daily. In addition, there is a Guest Book for each service member. All Guest Book entries are free and are posted after being reviewed for appropriate content.
Pottawattamie County Veterans Service Office is requesting the help of the public in obtaining pictures or memorabilia from those that served in the military; it does not have to be a professional military picture, but we must be able to tell the person was in the military. No identifying information will be placed on the photo. Appropriate size for the memorabilia would be items that would fit in a person's pocket, as they will be pinned to our bulletin board that is behind glass. Suggestions include lapel pins, patches, medals, good luck tokens carried during service, foreign coins, POW/MIA bracelets etc.
All items given and displayed are considered a gift and will not be returned.
If you have United States flags that need to be properly disposed of, please feel free to drop them off in our Retirement Drop Box in front of our building near the right pillar. These flags will be respectfully retired by one of our local veteran organizations.
