Our purpose is to preserve the condition of the built environment, identify and carry out cost savings opportunities, foster a clean, safe, secure environment for the staff and the general public. We do this through communication, planning and maintaining facilities in a professional service oriented manner. We strive to align maintenance support functions with the mission and goals of Pottawattamie County.
The Buildings and Grounds department integrates people, place and process within the built environment with the purpose of improving the quality of life of people and the productivity of the county government.

Buildings in Pottawattamie County range in age from 70 years old to newly-constructed. We are tasked with a wide variety of work in varying working conditions. Among the services we provide are:

  • Maintenance of mechanical HVAC systems and the software that controls them
  • Plumbing repairs, all types
  • Electrical repairs and installation
  • Custodial services
  • Groundskeeping
  • Inventories and inspections
