Pottawattamie County is making another call for volunteers to support The Wall That Heals, a traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial replica and mobile education center arriving in May 2026.
Thanks to strong community response, many volunteer roles have already been filled, but approximately 127 shifts remain open to fully staff the event.
How You Can Help
Volunteers are needed to support the exhibit 24 hours a day during its four-day stay. Opportunities include:
-
Assisting with set-up and take-down
-
Greeting and assisting visitors
-
Staffing the Mobile Education Center
-
Serving as parking monitors
-
Providing overnight presence at the Wall
-
Helping as floaters or volunteer leads
Whether you can give a few hours or multiple shifts, your time helps ensure every visitor has a meaningful experience.

Motorcycle Escort
Motorcycle riders are invited to participate in a special motorcade escort on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
The escort will begin at the East Pottawattamie County Fairgrounds in Avoca and accompany The Wall That Heals to Lewis Central High School. This tribute offers a powerful way to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
