The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors was recently recognized by the Spirit of Westfair Capital Campaign Committee for its contribution to ongoing improvements at the Westfair Fairgrounds.
Representatives from the campaign, including Connie Casson and Abby Jares, along with Westfair Board Member John Bracker, presented the Board with a commemorative farm sign during the March 24 Board of Supervisors meeting. The recognition honors the County’s $125,000 investment in 2024 to support capital improvements at the fairgrounds.
The contribution marked an important milestone for the campaign, serving as its first major donation as fundraising efforts began.
“We’re really appreciative of the County’s support,” said campaign representatives during the meeting. “This contribution was both unusual and outstanding, and it helped us build momentum toward our goal.”
The Spirit of Westfair Capital Campaign is working toward a $10 million Phase 1 goal to fund improvements that support agriculture, youth programming, and community events. As of late March, the campaign has surpassed the halfway point, raising more than $5 million.
Pottawattamie County’s investment reflects a shared commitment to strengthening local agriculture, supporting youth development opportunities, and enhancing community spaces that serve residents across the county.
