As temperatures drop, Pottawattamie County is calling on residents to help keep our community warm this winter. The Pottawattamie County Wellness Committee has launched a warm clothing drive to collect new and gently used apparel for individuals and families facing hardship during the cold-weather months.
Community members are invited to donate items such as coats, hats, gloves, scarves, sweatshirts, and other cold-weather essentials. All donations will support local partners who provide direct assistance to people experiencing homelessness or difficult circumstances, including Micah House, New Visions Homeless Services, and the Pottawattamie County Jail.
“Even small donations can have a big impact,” said Rikayla Champlin, Senior Jail Administrative Assistant and member of the Pottawattamie County Wellness Committee. “A warm coat or pair of gloves can make all the difference for someone facing a tough winter. We’re grateful for the generosity of our community and our employees who make this drive possible each year.”
