Pottawattamie County Conservation presented a $250,000 installment payment to the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, October 20, as part of an ongoing effort to repay the county's infrastructure investment at Crescent Hill at Hitchcock.

Conservation Executive Director Jeff Franco explained that shortly after the county acquired Crescent Hill, formerly known as Mt. Crescent Ski Area, the Board of Supervisors provided upfront funding for infrastructure improvements needed at the facility. The investment was made with the understanding that Crescent Hill's enterprise fund would repay the county over time.

The $250,000 installment brings the total amount repaid to the county to just over $627,800. The payments are made through Crescent Hill's enterprise fund, which generates revenue through the ski area's operations.

Franco was joined by members of the Crescent Hill at Hitchcock team for the check presentation and acknowledged their work in helping the facility meet its financial commitments. He also emphasized the value of Crescent Hill as a unique recreational destination, offering residents and visitors an opportunity to enjoy skiing and other winter activities close to home.

The presentation also included a brief discussion of preparations for the upcoming winter season, including improvements to ski lift infrastructure and seasonal staffing.
