Additional Flood Reports Needed

Pottawattamie County Emergency Management urges residents affected by the September 30–October 1 heavy rainfall and flooding to report their property damage as soon as possible. Additional reports are needed to document community impacts and support the county’s efforts to qualify for the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program and Disaster Case Advocacy Program. Resident submissions help local and state officials assess the extent of damage and identify unmet recovery needs. This information supports consideration of a Governor’s Proclamation of Disaster Emergency that would activate these programs for the affected county. Damage that goes unreported may leave officials with an incomplete picture of the assistance residents need.

Submit damage reports and photos through the county’s storm information page: www.pottcounty-ia.gov/emergency_management/heavy_rain_flooding_september_30_october_1_2026/

If activated, the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program can help eligible households with qualifying disaster-related expenses. The Disaster Case Advocacy Program helps affected households identify recovery needs, develop a recovery plan, and connect with resources. Program activation requires a Governor’s proclamation, and individual eligibility requirements apply.

Submitting a damage report is not an application for assistance and does not guarantee funding. It is an important step in documenting the need for additional support in Pottawattamie County. Residents are encouraged to share the reporting link with neighbors, family members, and others affected by the flooding.
