Pottawattamie County congratulates Danelle Bruce, Operations Supervisor for the Western Iowa Services Collaborative Disability Access Point, on receiving the Southwest Iowa Planning Council (SWIPCO) 2025 Partnership Award in recognition of her extraordinary accomplishments in community development.
The award was originally presented during the SWIPCO Annual Meeting and 50th Anniversary Celebration on September 25, 2025, but Bruce was unable to attend the event. She was publicly recognized at the Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors meeting on October 14.
SWIPCO’s Partnership Awards highlight individuals and organizations demonstrating outstanding collaboration and dedication to improving communities across Southwest Iowa. Bruce was honored for her more than a decade of service to the region and her commitment to helping residents access essential disability and community services.
“Danelle has been a strong and steady advocate for people in need across Southwest Iowa,” read the nomination from the Southwest Iowa Planning Council (SWIPCO). “She’s the kind of person who not only works hard to make Southwest Iowa a better place, but also has your back when things get challenging. Her support for SWITA, SWIPCO, and public transit in general has made a lasting impact on Southwest Iowa.”
Bruce has worked in the human services field for more than 24 years, most recently serving as Disabilities Services Director for the Southwest Iowa Mental Health and Disability Services (MHDS) Region before transitioning to her current role as Operations Supervisor with the Disability Access Point, Western Iowa Services Collaborative.
“Danelle has always been a great advocate for people with disabilities, including advocating for access to affordable and reliable transportation,” added Suzanne Watson, Executive Director for Western Iowa Services Collaborative (WISC) Disability Access Point. “As part of her work with the Region and now with WISC, she has made it a priority to regularly collaborate with SWIPCO to identify needs and help come up with solutions.”
