COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA – The Pottawattamie County Recorder’s Office is happy to be launching two new services to better serve the residents of Pottawattamie County.

Beginning February 1st, 2022, the Recorder’s Office will begin selling Hunting and Fishing Licenses at the counter.  “The goal is to save our customer’s an extra trip and to be a one stop shop for DNR services”, says Marilyn Hebing, Pottawattamie County Recorder.  “The idea of adding hunting and fishing licenses had been kicked around for many years and we thought it was time to get the ball rolling.  We are really excited about this new service.”

Also scheduled to begin in February, the Recorder’s Office will hold a monthly East Pottawattamie County Passport Day at the Avoca, IA City Hall.  The East Pottawattamie Passport Day is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, February 9th and continue to be held at Avoca City Hall on the second Wednesday of each month. Customers will be able to apply for a new passport, get help renewing a passport, and have their picture taken for their passport.

“Our Passport service has generated a lot of buzz since launching in 2016 and its time this is shared with residents on the eastern side of the county”, says Hebing.  Unlike the Courthouse, no appointment is necessary to get a passport in Avoca.  Avoca Hours will be 9am to 2pm.
