National Preparedness Month 2026

September marks National Preparedness Month, the annual campaign to remind everyone that preparing for emergencies and disasters can keep them, their families, and their communities safe.

The resources and information shared during National Preparedness Month can be used by anyone at any time to get prepared for whatever may come their way. This annual campaign aims to ensure all our friends and neighbors have the tools they need to prepare for disasters and build resilience before disaster strikes.

6th Annual Pottawattamie County Preparedness Fair!

Emergency Management will host the 2026 Preparedness Fair on Thursday, September 17th, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Pottawattamie County Emergency Operations Center, located at 205 S Main Street in Council Bluffs. This free, family-friendly event will provide you opportunities to learn and have a great time.

There will be also be opportunity to get a jump start on cold & flu season with flu shots available from Pottawattamie County Public Health. (Bring your insurance information or $20 to receive your annual flu shot)
