Main Courthouse Entrance Closed

The main entrance to the Pottawattamie County Courthouse is temporarily closed to make way for a 22,000 square foot addition consisting of a new accessible entrance and additional space for county offices.

Due to this construction, the main entrance will be closed to pedestrian traffic.  All pedestrian traffic must enter the Courthouse via the southwest entrance on 6th Street.  The east parking lot will remain open during this time.  Handicapped parking can be found in the east parking lot or a few spaces have been made available near the southwest entrance off 5th Avenue.

The new addition will help make the Courthouse a one-stop-shop, moving more county offices under one roof.  The addition will create space to move the Planning and Zoning Department and the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Department into the building from the Annex.  The new addition will also create more space for the Buildings and Grounds department and Court Security.

Work is scheduled to be completed mid-2023.

We appreciate your patience during construction.
