The Pottawattamie County WIC Program is announcing the hiring of a Registered Nurse. This is a part-time position that will work an average of 14 to 16 hours per week.
This position is responsible for completing the medical component of the certification process and acts as a medical resource person for the agency.
Application review will begin on January 24, 2022 until position is filled.
Essential FunctionsConducting the following assessment for determining medical risk: measuring length/height and weight, performing hemoglobin test, and completing health questionnaire.
Functioning as a competent professional authority for determination of program eligibility and certification.
Obtains individual anthropometric, and biochemical data.
Certifying or denying participation in the program on the basis of nutritional risk.
Refers WIC participants to other sources of health care as needed, and provides documentation and follow-up of all referrals made.
Attends in-service meetings.
Assess the competency of LPN to perform clinic tasks and be available for consultation (does not have to be on site).
Provides health education orientation and general medical in-services to agency staff.
Assists with the overall functioning of the WIC clinic and performs other duties as needed.
Essential Knowledge, Experience, and Ability
Ability to work with general public who possess varied educational, economic and ethnic backgrounds. Ability to work effectively with people and convey information in most effective manner. Willing to travel to WIC clinics and out-of-town meetings/training sessions.
Essential Education, Certification, and/or Licenses
Must have RN license in the state of Iowa.
