2024 Disasters

The onset of the 2024 convective weather season produced three months of impactful severe weather and flooding that has resulted loss of life, injury, property destruction, widespread damages, and significant public infrastructure impacts. As a result, Pottawattamie County has been include in three (3) Presidential Major Disaster Declarations and additional Governor Proclamations of Disaster Emergency. Government, private sector, residents, and non-profits have been working continuous disaster response and recovery operations since April 26th and recovery continues with local, state, and federal partners deployed across the county and numerous other counties in Iowa.

Long-term disaster recovery center

In-person Disaster Case Advocacy services available to individuals starting Wednesday, February 9, 2025 as federal partners transistion out of the center. 

The Long-term Disaster Recovery Center (LT-DRC) will be staffed with local emergency management personnel and state
disaster case advocates who can provide asssitance with navigating FEMA, insurance, SBA, applying for programs and assistance, identifying and accessing new resources, developing a home repair or rebuild plan, creating a unique recovery plan with steps to reach your recovery goals, and more, based on your disaster-related needs.

Disater Survivors who haven't enrolled in the Iowa Disaster Case Advocacy Program can still enroll at   homelandsecurity.iowa.gov/assistance, or at this link DCA Online Form.
