Board of Supervisors Meeting

The Board of Supervisors typically meets on Tuesdays at 10 am in the Pottawattamie County Courthouse, with additional meetings as called by the Chairperson.

The public can participate in the meetings by attending them in person in the Hearing Room on the 2nd floor of the Courthouse or electronically through Teams.

Public Health Open House

Pottawattamie County Public Health invites the local community to an open house on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Public Health Services Building located at 515 5th Avenue, Council Bluffs, IA 51503. 

This event offers a unique opportunity to explore the range of essential services housed within the facility, which opened to the public in November 2024. Services and departments within the building include Animal Control, Environmental Services, Health Services, Community Health, WIC, the county Medical Examiner, Disease Investigation, Epidemiology, and more.  

Guests can enjoy guided tours of the building, meet with staff from each program, and learn more about departmental highlights, service usage data, and photos from the building’s construction. Light refreshments will be available.  

The event is free and open to the public, and no RSVP is required.

Trail Work Volunteer Signup | Morning Shift | National Trails Day

Grab a shovel and help reroute a trail with the Loess Hills Nordic Ski Patrol on National Trails Day!

This volunteer event is perfect for hardworking helpers who aren't afraid to get a little dirty while putting the finishing touches on a rerouted trail segment and assisting with trail repair on National Trails Day. Due to the steep topography in the Loess Hills, a portion of Moonseed Trail has suffered significant erosion and trail damage from heavy rains. We need YOUR help to reroute a large portion of this trail and make it more sustainable.

Handline Deployment and Hose Advancement

The Oakland Fire Department is hosting a training event at the Fire Station, Handline Deployment and Hose Advancement, on June 7 at 1600, and we invite all surrounding Fire Departments to attend. This event is free of charge, and food will be provided. Participants are required to wear Bunker Gear, but SCBA is not required. 

Night Out with Nightjars

Join avid birder, Nic Salick, for an evening hike where we'll look for Nightjars in the prime of their mating season. These are nocturnal, owl-like birds that don't build nests and have some funky behaviors.

Monthly Avoca Passport Day

On the second Wednesday of each month, the Recorder's Office sets up shop at the Avoca Courthouse to provide greater access to the passport process to residents on the eastern side of the county. Passport services are offered from 9am-2pm each of the dates listed below.
